Word and Excel
for Genealogists
In this hands-on workshop, we'll discuss various aspects of Word and Excel that
have genealogical uses. We'll discuss different tables and forms that can be
created for organizing genealogical data and see how to use those tables and
forms in actual research situations. We'll also see how to export reports and
forms into Word from most genealogical software programs such as Personal
Ancestral File, Family Tree Maker, and others. We will also see how to use Word
to create computerized research logs to track online research activities. Also
covered will be downloading graphics from the Internet and integrating those
graphics into other software applications.

Getting the Most
from the FamilySearch website
The Family History Library (Mormon) genealogy website offers a tremendous
amount of information and finding aids. In this all-day workshop we will
discuss effective search strategies for the different databases on this site
including the Family History Library Card Catalog, Ancestral File, Pedigree
Resource File, International Genealogical Index, and the 1880 census
transcription. Also covered will be the different research aids and guides
