The Habbens

Mimke HABBEN was born in Felde, Ostfriesland, Germany in 1823. He married Antje JASPERS in Wiesens, and here their children were born. The family emigrated to the United States in the 1860s, initially settling in near Golden, in Adams County, Illinois (according to family tradition). The family permanently settled in Prairie Township, Hancock County, Illinois, where Mimke purchased land. Mimke died in Prairie Township in 1877 andAntje died there in 1900.
