Lecture Topics:
· Organizing Family History Material: This session
will discuss ways to effectively organize your family history information
in order to help see things you have overlooked. There is more to organizing
your information than family group charts and pedigree charts. We will also
look at some ways of organizing information for presentation to other family
members.
· Effective Online Searching Methods: This session will discuss
online searching techniques to help you get the most from your online time.
There is more to online searching than simply typing a name in a box. This
session will give you some ideas for working around misspellings and incorrect
transcriptions.
· Utilizing Courthouse Records: This lecture will provide an
overview of what is in the courthouse with an emphasis on utilizing indexes.
Briefly discussed will be vital records, court records, land records, and
tax records with examples of why these records may be helpful to your search.
· Military Records: This session will provide an overview of
18th and 19th century military records along with suggestions for determining
if your ancestor actually served and learning more about your ancestor's
military career.
