"Married to an Alien"

The image below is the one referenced in my article from the Ancestry Daily News.

The page below shows Mary's citizenship status as "Al" for alien. Note that she was born in New York State. One of her neighbors (the third entry on this page) was in the same situation as Mary. Bessie was born in Wisconsin and married to a Japanese husband. Consequently she also lost her citizenship upon her marriage.
