As mentioned in the Ancestry Daily News article from 17 May 2001 ( Brief Stop at the Rock Island Historical Society), use of the city directories was extremely helpful in locating members of the Mortier family from the 1900 census. Entries for three Mortier families were located, all within the sixth ward of the city of Rock Island.
