Free Hotel Stay During 2009 Family History Library Trip

Our deadline to enter our free at the Plaza contest is coming to a quick close. The deadline for entries is this Friday, 11 July 2008. The contest is for our 2009 genealogy research trip to the Salt Lake City Family History Library.

We always have a good time and are looking forward to our trip next May. Pre-trip planning is an integral part of our research experience and we want people to have adequate time to prepare. It is not necessary to get ready now, but those that start thinking about what families they want to work on early, start asking questions early, etc. tend to have better luck. In some cases, it may be that some families are best researched somewhere besides the Family History Library. The FHL has vast quantities of material, but occasionally another facility may be a better option (especially if a county has not been "filmed").

Besides the pre-trip planning, there are presentations each morning to help get the mind thinking, expose you to research ideas, methods, sources, etc. And I do help those who need it to use the digital microfilm scanner, search actual records, etc. Consultations can be discussions about research at one of the tables, or help using microfilmed records, etc.

More information about the trip can be found on our site. More information about the contest can be found here. And those unfamiliar about the wonderful collection of the Family History Library can visit their website as well. Questions about the trip are always welcome as well.
